Enhancing Lithium Manganese Oxide Electrochemical Behavior by Doping and Surface Modifications

نویسندگان

چکیده

Lithium manganese oxide is regarded as a capable cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, but it suffers from relative low conductivity, dissolution in electrolyte and structural distortion cubic to tetragonal during elevated temperature tests. This review covers comprehensive study about the main directions taken into consideration supress drawbacks of lithium oxide: structure doping surface modification by coating. Regarding LiMn2O4, several perspectives are studied, which include with single or multiple cations, only anions combined cations anions. Surface approach consists coating different materials like carbonaceous compounds, oxides, phosphates solid solutions. The modified performs better than pristine samples, showing improved cyclability, behaviour at high discharge c-rates temperate improves ions diffusion coefficient.

Sintering Behavior of Forsterite with Manganese Oxide as Doping Agent

Forsterite (Mg2SiO4) powder was synthesized using magnesium and talc with assistance of ball milling. Manganese doped forsterite was prepared at weight percentage of 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.5% and 1.0wt% by adding manganese oxide before ball milling. The undoped and manganese doped forsterite were sintered at temperature of 1000°C, 1100°C and 1200°C. The Vickers hardness, fracture toughness and Yo...

Enhancing the electrochemical performance of Li-rich layered oxide Li1.13Ni0.3Mn0.57O2 via WO3 doping and accompanying spontaneous surface phase formation

WO3 doping and accompanying spontaneous formation of a surface phase can substantially improve the discharge capacity, rate capability, and cycling stability of Co-free Li-rich layered oxide Li1.13Ni0.3Mn0.57O2 cathode material. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, in conjunction with ion sputtering, shows that W segregates to the particle surfaces, decreases the surface Ni/Mn ratio, and changes t...

Electronic and electrochemical doping of graphene by surface adsorbates

Many potential applications of graphene require its precise and controllable doping with charge carriers. Being a two-dimensional material graphene is extremely sensitive to surface adsorbates, so its electronic properties can be effectively modified by deposition of different atoms and molecules. In this paper, we review two mechanisms of graphene doping by surface adsorbates, namely electroni...

Enhancing the electrochemical kinetics of high voltage olivine LiMnPO4 by isovalent co-doping.

We report here doping of Fe(2+) and/or Mg(2+) in LiMnPO4 cathode material to enhance its lithium storage performance and appraise the effect of doping. For this purpose, LiMn0.9Fe(0.1-x)MgxPO4/C (x = 0 and 0.05) and LiMn0.95Mg0.05PO4/C have been prepared by a ball mill assisted soft template method. These materials were prepared with similar morphology, particle size and carbon content. Amongst...
